After a necessary vacation, we are starting to little sketch problems such as this one. My question was ‘what if The Red House by William Morris was designed by SANAA. Firstly, I have done some research for the background because such a question requires an information about characteristic features about The Red House and SANAA architecture firm. So, The Red House was designed as a family home in first place but now it is using as Arts and Crafts Museum in Southeast England. The significant of this building is about the L-shaped plan and also the house reflects William Morris ideas about the community at that time. The Red House is the example of Tudor Gothic Style which identifies itself with historicizing elements so clearly there are some certain qualities about the building but of course with limited time I could not create a certain plan about it but I have some ideas.

About SANAA, I had a lot of research and I said that I wish to meet them last term because they have amazing works and styles. SANAA is a multiple award-winning architecture firm which created by Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishiwaza. They have a lot of amazing works but I just looked some their well-knowns works and tried to understand their style. And Grace Farms and Serpentine Pavilion are quite interesting and I tried to read the author’s ideas about the projects and clearly they are very much interest in extensive use of glass which is quite different than others such as they want to create reflections which creates a different experience. Also, as I read in the magazines, they concern with aesthetics. Additionally SANAA is synonymous with contemporary Japanese architecture and their purpose not just looking good structure, they are also concerning about shaping and changing our daily life. Also, they do not want to create strict boundaries between spaces and they prefer layered spaces with no clear boundaries.
